New App “Habitica” is Making People MORE Productive

Spring is OFFICIALLY here, and despite the Katy Perry weather we’ve been having (Hot N’ Cold), people’s workloads are heating up as the year comes to a close before summer!

As someone who is involved in everything I can sink my teeth into, I struggle with numerous lists, and keeping track of my tasks. As someone who also prefers to write things down instead of typing them in to a device, it’s very hard to find an application that can convince me to make the switch.

Recently, a friend told me about an app called, “Habitica.”

“Treat your life like a game to stay motivated and organized! Habitica makes it simple to have fun while accomplishing goals.

Input your Habits, your Daily goals, and your To-Do list, and then create a custom avatar. Check off tasks to level up your avatar and unlock features such as armor, pets, skills, and even quests! Fight monsters with friends to keep each other accountable, and use your gold on in-game rewards, like equipment, or custom rewards, like watching an episode of your favorite TV show. Flexible, social, and fun, Habitica is the perfect way to motivate yourself to accomplish anything.”

This app seems to be made for children, but is definitely geared for millennials (a person reaching adulthood around the year 2000). Millennials are the demographic who most likely grew up in the center of an all-for-nothing competition between XBOX, Playstation, and Nintendo. The game system you own says something about you to your friend group

If you choose XBOX you’re a risk taker, if you choose Playstation you like what’s comfortable and are kind of lame, and if you have a Wii…. don’t get me started.

This app, Habitica, takes advantage of this generational interest in video games, and uses it to better people’s habits, motivation, and sense of accomplishment (for free!). Instead of wasting your time on apps like Instagram while your on the toilet, get out there and do something with your life.

If you are someone who over-commits themselves and needs to find a way to organize their life, download this app and give it a try!
